Simple, Sunnah Living
It is an established fact that our Beloved Messenger, peace be upon him, and his Noble Companions lived extremely simple, humble lifestyles, even when circumstances afforded them the chance to live opulently. Allah and His Messenger have spoken about the need to live gently on the Earth, to take (and eat) only what you need, and to make sure that those around you are not going without while you go with too much. In addition, the Sunnah shows us that it is preferable to do without material goods in favor of pursuing a richer, more spiritual life with family and friends. Had the Messenger, peace be upon him, preferred wealth over living the Truth of Islam, he would have accepted the offer of the Makkans to be the wealthiest man in Makkah with the keys to the Ka'aba in exchange for ceasing his da'wa. This does not mean that you can't live in a nice house, or even a big house, or that you can't have beautiful things. What the Sunnah means is that you take only what you need, and ensure that your neighbors have what they need, before you take what you merely want.
Insha'Allah, this page will also be a resource for the many Muslim families in the West who have chosen to pursue a one-income lifestyle so that the wife can stay with her children full time.
